Platen Gap Sensing
The T6300 has a mechanism that senses the platen gap, used in
conjunction with the Paper Weight
and Impact Parameters to control
paper movement and hammer impact force. This is explained in
Chapter 3.
When the platen is open, the position is sensed, printing is disabled and
the Platen Open message is displayed on the control panel.
Paper Tension Lever
The Paper Tension Lever controls the vertical tension between the upper
and lower sets of tractors.

Paper tension can affect your print quality. Raising and lowering the
Paper Tension Lever during a print test is one method that can be used
to obtain optimum print quality. Here are some things to look for when
you begin printing.
• If the paper tension is too loose, the dot columns and dot rows
may not line up.
• If the paper tension is too tight, the paper holes will start
elongating vertically and may tear. This can also lead to poor
paper stacking and jams.
