Kitchen
1. Refrigerator set near 2 or OFF as needed
The refrigerator operates 6°F cooler while towing. Set a
value of 1 less than the setting used while parked to
maintain a proper temperature: 1 winter and 2 summer.
If you are towing with the refrigerator OFF, placing
frozen water bottles in the freezer will help maintain
temperature. When OFF, it will gain approximately 2°F
per hour while towing in temperatures over 100°F.
2. Check refrigerator: food sealed & door latched
Food should be repackaged in smaller, square
containers or bags. This more than doubles the capacity
of the refrigerator. Make sure glass items are secure and
all liquids are closed. Items directly under the freezer
may freeze.
3. Kitchen lights OFF
All lights OFF, including the puck lights.
4. Secure all loose objects
If only highway towing is expected, sink cutting board,
stove grill, stove cover and garbage can may remain in
position. If off road or rough conditions are expected,
all items must be stowed.
5. Close all kitchen cabinet doors
All doors should be closed and latched.
6. Secure & lock kitchen hatch
Pull on hatch to ensure it is latched and locked.
Attach Tow Vehicle
1. Mount hitch into receiver & lock
The hitch is the part with the ball. It is secured in the
receiver with a pin and a retaining lock. A clamp may
be added to reduce noise.
2. Raise tongue jack
Coupler should be higher than the hitch ball.
3. Back tow vehicle to camper
Align the ball with the coupler.
4. Lower tongue jack & secure to hitch ball
The ball must be at the front of the coupler socket. This
allows space for the ball to clear the coupler locking
fingers while moving into the socket.
5. Latch coupler, make sure it is secure
The coupler should easily latch. If there are difficulties,
raise the trailer tongue. Push back on the trailer to
ensure the ball is fully forward in the socket while the
trailer is lowered over the ball.
6. Lock coupler
The ‘fangs’ on the latch handle should go into the top of
the coupler freely. Secure the coupler latch with a pin
and lock. If there is any resistance while latching, push
the trailer back, try again.
7. Fully retract tongue jack
8. Remove & stow jockey wheel or foot plate
Store in the yellow bag.
9. Hook up safety chains, crossed & brake cable
Chains should be adjusted to droop about 3 inches when
connected. The chains should cross under the hitch.
Attach the emergency brake cable separately Do not
route the emergency brake cable through the chains.
10. Attach trailer brake controller, wait for blue light
The following instructions are for the Curt Echo. The
blue light indicates power from the tow vehicle.
11. Check brake controller linked to phone app
You must have Location and Bluetooth turned on to pair
with the brake controller.
12. Attach 7-pin connection to brake controller or tow
vehicle
Black cable from trailer.
13. Brake controller should have Green light
14. Tap phone brake to test
15. Check trailer lights
Check trailer lights every time the 7-pin cord is
attached. Check running lights by turning on the tow
vehicle lights. The brake lights are the same as the two
turn signal lights at the same time. They may be
checked by applying the brake, both turn signals, or
flashers.
16. Adjust tow vehicle mirrors as necessary
The driver should see down the side of the trailer.
