SHOCK ABSORBER ADJUSTMENT
The rear shock absorber must be adjusted according
to rider or rider + passenger weight, and ground
conditions.
Perform the operation as follows:
-
with the motorcycle on the ground in vertical position,
measure the distance (A);
-
take the normal riding position on the motorcycle
with all your riding equipment;
-
with the help of another person, measure the new
distance (A);
-
the difference between these two measures is the
LOWERING of the rear motorcycle part.
Recommended lowering is 25/30 mm (0.98/1.18 in);
-
to achieve the right lowering based on your weight,
adjust the shock absorber spring preload as
described to the side.
WARNING
The shock absorber adjustment affects
the stability and handling of the vehicle;
therefore, it is advisable to proceed with
care after a change to the standard
calibration. In any case, it is advisable to
measure a reference value “A” before any
changes.
WARNING
Never disassemble the shock absorber, as it
contains pressurised gas. For major service
operations, contact the SWM Dealer.
