Thermal Grease
Heat sink fi ns
Heat Sink Installation
Locate the "CPU FAN1" header on
the motherboard.
Position the heat sink in such a
way that the heat sink fan wires
are closely routed to the CPU fan
and do not interfere with other
components.
Inspect the CPU fan wires to
make sure that the wires are
routed through the bottom of the
heat sink.
Remove the thin layer of the pro-
tective fi lm from the copper core
of the heat sink. Warning: the
CPU may overheat if the protec-
tive fi lm is not removed from the
heat sink.
Apply the proper amount of ther-
mal grease on the CPU. (If your
heat sink came with a thermal
pad, please ignore this step.)
If necessary, rearrange the wires
so that they are not pinched be-
tween the heat sink and the CPU.
Also make sure there is clearance
between the fan wires and the fi ns
of the heat sink.
Align the four heat sink fasten-
ers with the mounting holes on
the motherboard. Gently push
diagonal pairs of fasteners (#1 &
#2 and #3 & #4) into the mounting
holes until you hear a click. Orient
each fastener so that the narrow
end of the groove points outward.
