5-5 Installing Memory
Caution!
Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM modules to prevent
any possible damage.
Memory Support
The X10QBL-(CT) has thirty-two (32) 240-pin DIMM sockets that can support
up to 1 TB of Registered (RDIMM) or 2 TB of Load Reduced (LRDIMM) ECC
DDR3 1600/1333/1066 MHz speed SDRAM in a two-channel memory bus.
Memory sizes of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB size @ 1.35V/1.5V voltage
are supported. Use memory modules of the same type, speed, timing and same
on a serverboard. For the latest memory updates, please refer to our website a at

Notes:
1. For best system performance, we recommend that a pair of CPUs (CPU1/
CPU2) or two pairs of CPUs (CPU1/CPU2/CPU3/CPU4) be installed.
Using three CPUs is not recommended. Please install your DIMM modules
according to the number of CPUs used in the system.
2. To optimize memory performance, please install 16 DIMMs on the
motherboard when 4 CPUs are used in the system.
Installing Memory Modules (Figure 5-3)
1. Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory slots, starting with
P1M1-DIMM A1. The release tabs on the slot should be pushed outward.
2. Insert each DIMM module vertically into its slot. Pay attention to the notch
along the bottom of the module to avoid installing incorrectly (see Figure 5-3).
3. Gently press down on the DIMM module until it snaps into place in the slot.
Make sure that the side notches of the DIMM modules align with the lock/
release tabs of the slot when pressed in. Repeat for all modules.
4. Reverse the steps above to remove the DIMM modules from the CPU.
