1. Operating instructions

  for users and contractors

The installation and use of electrical appliances

must be carried out with due caution in order

to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.

The equipment must only be used as described

in these instructions. Any use outside of the

manufacturer recommendations could lead to

damage, fire, shock or injury.

The heat requirement of the room should be

matched to the heat output of the unit.

Before using the appliance the instructions

should be read in their entirety and all ap-

propriate handling of the equipment must be
observed.

These instructions should be kept safe-
ly and passed on to any future owner.

In the event of any repair work, hand them
to the qualified installer for his attention.

1.1 Unit description

The BHE thermocon towel rail radiator is suit-

able for use as supplementary heating as well

as for drying and warming towels. There are

several levels for hanging these.

The appliance is ready for operation after it

has been fixed on a wall and connected to the
mains by means of the mains plug.

1.2 Operation

The BHE is operated via the control panel on

the front.

The heater is be switched on via the ON/

OFF button (

1

). Set the room temperature to

between approx. + 6 °C and + 30 °C on the

room thermostat (

3

).

After the adjusted ambient temperature has
been reached,  it will remain constantly, until the
appliance is switched off (the heating capacity
of the appliance must correspond at least to
the necessary heat requirement of the room).

Rapid heating function

With the rapid-heating-function the BHE will
run for the preselected period for continuous
operation, regardless of the temperature set
on the room thermostat.
The heating time can be set to ¼ h, ½ h, 1 h
or 2 h at timer (6) and is activated by pressing
quick heat-up key (7).

If the heating time is to be ended before the
end of the set period, the rapid heating button
must be pressed again.

Frost protection

In the event of a lengthy absence, the room
temperature should not fall below approx.
+6 °C (frost protection) and the room ther-
mostat should be turned to the

à

 position

and the appliance must remain switched on
(observe the heating capacity of the appliance
and heat requirement of the room).

Taking the appliance out of operation

In order to take the equipment completely
out of operation, switch it off, take the supply
plug out and stop water supply (via thermo-
static valve).

1.3 Safety instructions

Do not operate the appliance
–  in rooms which present fire or ex-

plosion risks as a result of chemicals, dust,
gases or fumes;

–  in the immediate vicinity of pipes or con-

tainers which carry or contain combusti-
ble or potentially explosive substances;

–  if the minimum distances from adjoining

surfaces of objects are not met.

The surfaces of the appliance get hot when

it is operating (approx. 80 °C).

There is a

risk of burns!

If it is intended that children or persons with

restricted physical, sensory, or mental capac-
ity should operate the appliance, it must be
ensured that this is only done after appropri-
ate instruction has been provided by the
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the device.

Do not cover the device!

Combustible or inflammable objects, such
as containers of wax or petrol, aerosols and
such like, must not be placed on or in the
immediate vicinity of the appliance.

Risk of

their catching fire!

For objects of all kinds, such as newspapers,

furniture, curtains and drapes or other com-
bustible materials, the following minimum
distances from the heater must be observed:

bottom

200 mm

sides and top

150 mm

The surface of the BHE may be hot even

when it is switched off.

This appliance is intended only for warming

or drying textiles which have been made
damp by water (not dry cleaning).

Do not climb on the appliance (in particular,

draw children’s attention to this).

No changes at the equipment must be made.

Never leave the appliance when in use un-

supervised.

Special caution is required, if the appliance

is used in the presence of children, invalid
persons or animals.

Danger of injury!

If a part of the appliance is damaged or has

fallen down or it was already defect/malfan-
ctioning, it  may no be taken in to operation.

1.4 Care and maintenance

Clean the appliance regularly when it is cold,
using standard care agents.  Avoid the use of
abrasive and corrosive agents.

As part of regular maintenance, we recommend
that you have the control and regulating devices
checked as well.  Safety, control and regulating
devices should be checked by a qualified installer
not later than 10 years after first start-up.
