2 Window Protection System
Functions, wiring and commissioning
Functional sequence in operating mode without an additional power supply unit
After the WPS2 system has received its supply voltage via the motor circuit, the window is deemed to be at its maximum
open position (max. window run time set to 3 minutes
).
Depending on the voltage applied in each case, the window will traverse to the open or closed position. There are
no limitations on traversing to the open position. When traversing to the closed position, a delay of approximately 7.5
seconds will appear. That is the time required by the sensor in order to generate a valid signal. In the case of operation
purely via a contact strip, this time may be omitted. When traversing to the closed position, the window will be stopped
after 3 minutes
. In closing position, the sensors will be ignored. Otherwise when traversing to the closed position,
normal sensor detection with reverse function (traversing in the open direction) will take place.
If the pause time of the central control unit should exceed the buffer time that is currently possible, this may result in input
detection errors (emergency close, SHE).
It is therefore essential to ensure that the pause time during a change of polarity (alteration of the direction of
travel) does not exceed 0.3 seconds. If the pause time is much too long or a STOP command is issued by the
central control unit (no supply voltage), the WPS2 system will reset itself.
Monitoring of the motor circuit
Jumper J1 to INT (Internal): No additional monitoring diodes are required. The motor cable will be monitored for wire
breaks from the SHE central control unit to the WPS2 control system.
Note:
Further information on monitoring can be found in the technical information on the SHE central control
unit.
Note:
This monitoring applies exclusively to the monitoring of diodes!
Jumper J1 to EXT (External): The monitoring diodes must be installed in the last junction box from the WPS2 system to
the drives. This monitoring variation can only be used if the WPS2 system has a permanent power supply provided by a
power supply unit.
Note:
Failure of the power supply to the WPS2 system can result in monitoring being interrupted. If the moni-
toring diodes are connected with no output load via a drive, this can result in the message “Relay fault" being
displayed on the WPS2 system.
Wiring and commissioning

either supply voltage via the power supply unit input or continuous voltage at the motor input (supply via the motor circuit)
is required.
Windows that are connected should be in the closed state prior to commissioning (application of the supply voltage to
the WPS2 system). If this is not possible, after the application of the supply voltage the emergency close mode (Not-Zu)
should be selected in order to initiate the closing of the windows.

based on the connection situation using the Service Port software.
Caution
: All shearing edges must now be checked for anti-trapping security under real conditions!
In order to do this, it is advisable to set a relatively short time delay as otherwise you would have to wait a long
time for the window to be released again. Once the sensors have been adjusted successfully, the time delay
can be increased as required.
Areas that are not being monitored are to be corrected using the setting options for the sensor. If necessary,
adjust the sensor location.
If the conditions at the customer’s site are so unfavourable that it is not possible to monitor the window safely,
then the electromechanical operation of the window should be deactivated.
