MIG SPOT WELDING procedure – manual
regulation
Starting welding:
1) Hold down the gas PURGE button (ref.19) for a
few seconds to purge the gas.
2) Press the INCH button (ref.20) for manual
advance of the wire, so as to make the wire run
through the torch until it is just protruding from the
nozzle.
3) SELECT MODE the welding parameters.
4) Perform welding: press and hold down the torch
button; the gas will come out (pre-gas) as long as
the button is held down; when the torch button is
released the wire will start to come out and the arc
will be lit, thus making the weld.
5) It is possible to change the characteristic of the
arc using the CAr function. It is recommended to
start welding with the value SELECT MODE at 0. If
any splashes occur during welding, increase the
CAr value; instead, if the wire tends to stick and
burns with difficulty, decrease the CAr value.
6) During welding the left-hand display (ref.24)
shows the value of the SELECT MODE wire speed
(expressed in m/min) or of the real current
(expressed in Ampere), depending on whether the
reading of the current with the button A (ref.6) is
enabled; on the right-hand display (ref.22) you can
see the real welding voltage value (expressed in
Volt).
End of welding:
7) Welding will last for the SELECT MODE spot
welding time tP; gas will then start to come out for
the time SELECT MODE with the post-gas
function.
8) At the end of welding, both displays will keep the
real current and voltage values obtained during
welding for a few seconds.
DOUBLE PULSE FUNCTION
ONLY FOR XM
Regulation active only for the pulsed programs P
To make welds using the machine’s double pulse
function, the following settings must be carried out:
1) SELECT MODE the desired MIG mode and
activate a pulsed synergic mode (see previous
paragraphs).
2)
Inserting double pulse function DP
Press the
DP
button (ref.8), this will switch
ON
the
respective led (ref.9). The right-hand display will
show the letters
Std
, indicating that this is a pre-
SELECT MODE standard regulation.
3) Changing the double pulse frequency
Press in sequence the
DP
button (ref.8), the letters
PFr
will appear on the right-hand display. At this
point, using the two
MAX
and
MIN
keys (ref.12,13),
it is possible to change the frequency from 0.5 to 4
Hz. The
ON
led (ref.9) will blink, indicating that you
have left the standard regulation.
4) Changing the double pulse duty
Press in sequence the
DP
button (ref.8), the letters
Pdu
will appear on the right-hand display. At this
point, using the two
MAX
and
MIN
keys (ref.12,13),
it is possible to change the duty from 25% to 75 %
of the period. The
ON
led (ref.9) will blink,
indicating that you have left the standard
regulation.
5) Changing the double pulse motor speed
Press in sequence the
DP
button (ref.8), the letters
rId
will appear on the right-hand display. At this
point, using the two
MAX
and
MIN
keys (ref.12,13),
it is possible to change the speed from 45% to 80
% of the SELECT MODE speed. The
ON
led
(ref.9) will blink, indicating that you have left the
standard regulation.
6)
Exclusion of double pulse function DP
Hold down the
DP
button (ref.8) for about 3
seconds, this will switch off the respective
ON
led
(ref.9). In this way, the next time the
DOUBLE
PULSE
function is reactivated, you will find the
standard program values already SELECT MODE
StA APPROACH SPEED
REGULATION
To regulate the
StA
function press the
SELECT
MODE / SET PRG
button for at least 2 seconds
until
End
appears and blinks on the right display.
As soon as
End
appears press once again the
SELECT MODE / SET PRG
button. The letters
StA
will appear and blink. Now it’s possible to vary
the
StA
function value from 15 to 100 with the
V
current/functions regulating encoder.
tSt IGNITION SLOPE TIME
REGULATION
To regulate the
tSt
function press the
SELECT
MODE / SET PRG
button for at least 2 seconds
until
End
appears and blinks on the right display.
As soon as
End
appears, press the
SELECT
MODE / SET PRG
button twice. The letters
tSt
will
appear and blink. Now it’s possible to vary the
tSt
function value from 0.1 to 1.5 seconds with the
V
current/functions regulating encoder.
FUNCTION OF STORING AND
LOADING WELDING
PARAMETERS (JOB MODE)
Function active for all welding modes
This function allows you to store and load at any
time all the settings made on the generator. It is
possible to save 60 welding parameters settings) .
STORING WELDING SETTINGS
1) Press in sequence for 1 second the buttons
PURGE
