Improper mounting, installation, commissioning, maintenance or cleaning
Basic work such as installation, commissioning, maintenance or cleaning of the device must
be performed only in accordance with the applicable national regulations of the country of use
and only by qualified persons. Otherwise, the explosion protection may be rendered
ineffective. This may result in explosions causing serious or even fatal injury.

Have the assembly, installation, commissioning and maintenance work performed by
qualified and authorised persons only (see chapter 3.2).

Prior to commissioning, check the mounting for correctness (see chapter 7).

When used in Zone 2, the device must be installed in a protective enclosure or in a cabinet
according to IEC/EN 60079-0. This enclosure (or cabinet) must have a suitable degree of
protection (at least IP54).

The device may only be operated in environments not exceeding degree of pollution 2.
▶
Electrical circuits with the "Ex i" type of protection may no longer be operated as electrical
circuits with this type of protection after being operated with electrical circuits with other
types of protection.

When used in Zone 2, the intrinsically safe devices of Zones 1, 0, 21 and 20 can be
connected to the intrinsically safe signal circuits.

Only use the device up to SIL 3 (IEC 61508).
▶
Ensure that the safety characteristic values of the connected field devices correspond to
the specifications in the data sheet or in the EC Type Examination Certificate.

Do not change or modify the device.
▶
Gently clean the device with a damp cloth only – do not use scratching, abrasive or
aggressive cleaning agents or solutions.
3.3.2 Damage to the Device
The device can be irreparably damaged during basic work on the device
(e.g. mounting, installation, maintenance, cleaning).
Electrostatic discharge
The device contains sensitive components that can be destroyed by electrostatic discharges.
This can impair the function of the device or destroy it completely.

Before carrying out work on the device, the body must be discharged on grounded metal
parts or an ESD wrist strap must be put on.
