Ashby-P Insert

If the damper seems to be set correctly for level 5, but there seems to be too much air for
the lower settings, then adjust the combustion fan voltages by using the control board.
(See point 9 in the Troubleshooting & Frequently Asked Questions Section in the back of
the manual)
If the Ashby has been connected to an existing Chimney system that has good natural
draft, use the Trim button to adjust the Combustion Fan voltages down to compensate for
the extra draft.
If the Insert has been installed as a “Zero-Clearance” fireplace, and the vent system has
horizontal venting and elbows, there will be more restriction in the venting system and
more air may be needed.
Thermostat Control & Pilot Settings
The Ashby-P may be controlled with a thermostat to help maintain a more constant
temperature. The Ashby-P may react a little slower to a thermostat compared to a Gas or
Electric insert. With this in mind the low setting can be adjusted to increase or decrease
the amount of fuel used. This will allow the heat output during the pilot stage to be
matched to the size of the home. A larger home will require more heat than a small one.
Keep in mind that the Insert is constantly producing some heat that helps heat the home
while it is in pilot mode. If the home seems too warm, and the Thermostat is never calling
for heat, a lower pilot setting may be a better fit for the home.
(Read point 3 on page 31
for adjusting the feedrates on the low setting). Running the unit in the Smart-Stat
mode will also allow the unit to shut down if the Thermostat doesn’t call for heat with
in an hour.
Remember: Choosing a lower Pilot setting may require the Draft Fan Voltage or the
Damper to be fine-tuned to match the lower feed rate. Monitor how the Ashby is
operating after a change is made and adjust the damper or Combustion Fan voltage
if needed.
