General
A contact of the disc segments can be prevented using the SPM Shock Pulse Method. A shock pulse
transducer measures the mechanical shocks arising when the disc segments touches each other.
A shock pulse transducer (A) is fixed to the refiner housing so that mecha nical shocks from the
segments are transmitted to the transducer with a minimum of reduction. The transducer signal
is transmitted via the cables to the MG4-REF11A electronics which analyses the frequency of oc-
currence and magnitude.
During normal operation the instrument reading is 20 - 60 %. If the discs run together, the meas-
ured value exceeds an alarm limit (see default settings) and a relay is activated which gives signal
to open the disc gap.
A vibration transducer (B) is also fixed to the refiner housing. The vibration measurement returns
one value (mm/s RMS) according to ISO standard 2372.
The measuring results can be put on any of the available analog output channels and connected
with any of the relays.
The MG4-REF11A includes one relay 250 Vac / 5 A /1250 VA and four relays 125 Vac / 1 A / 60 VA
(150 Vdc / 1 A / 30 W).
One analog output for the VIB channel and three for the SPM channels are supplied. The MG4-
REF11 is the active unit in the 4-20 mA loop and is feeding about 10 V DC to the PLC or the devices
in the loop. Including cable resistance, the max. loop resistance is 400 Ω.
Please note
: The vibration frequency range is factory set 10 – 1000 Hz and cannot be changed
by the user.
