Non-electrical devices for use in the surface industry, where there is the
possibility that explosive atmospheres due to the presence of dust occur - Zone 20
3.
LIMITATIONS TO USE
-
Only use if the surrounding air has an oxygen volume content between 17 and 21% (or as specified in current
national laws).
-
Do not use the device to evacuate silos or confined spaces generally.
-
Do not use the H 900 ABEK15 and H 900 ABEK P 15 hoods if carbon monoxide is present (CO).
-
These devices are disposable and must not be used more than once.
-
The device leaktightne
ss depends on the size and shape of the user’s face, e.g. beard, sideburns, deep scars, could
all affect the perfect leaktightness between the half-mask edge, the collar and the face.
-
Users with long hair must make sure to completely cover it with the hood to ensure sealing.
-
The presence of eyeglasses could make it difficult to wear the hood. It is recommended to take them off before
using the device.
-
These devices are not recommended for users having narrow neck (circumference < 260 mm, such as children),
since the necessary sealing could not be achieved.
-
The respirator can only be used for leaks or self-preservation operations and only if there is a risk of toxic substances in
not very high concentrations (if there are high concentrations of toxic substances the usage time could be reduced).
-
The device provides limited protection against solvents with low boiling point.
-
As soon as you smell or taste the pollutants, leave the area: this means the filter is saturated.

USE
4.1
Before use
Check the package before use. Do not use the respirator if the seal seems compromised. Do not use the respirator if
the bag is opened or damaged. Always check the expiry date on the label on the bag.
4.2
Use (See Fig.1, 2, 3)
•
O
pen the bag by gripping with one hand the part marked with the "SPASCIANI” logo and pull strongly downward
with the other hand until the sealed part opens completely, as shown in Fig.1. Should the bag not get opened the
first time, grasp directly the flap of the bag and open.
•
Pull out the hood by the fabric; avoid pulling by the valve or by the elastic strap; follow the indications given shown in Fig.2.
•
Wear the hood as shown in Fig.3: enlarge the elastic collar using both hands; position and pull the hood over the
head until it fits properly.
No special adjustment is required since the elastic strap causes the half-mask to adhere to the face of the user. If the
mask is not correctly positioned, grasp it by the filter and pull forward to position properly the mask so that it adheres
perfectly to the mouth and nose. The hair must be completely covered by the hood.
•
Once the hood is on the user’s face, identify the escape route. Breathe c
almly.
5.
MAINTENANCE / EXPIRY DATE
The maximum life duration of the escape protective hood is of 10 years; as indicated on the label on the bag, after 5
years it is required to check the condition of the device. The device must be sent to Spasciani or to Authorised
Workshops, which will check the weight of the product sealed; in case of significant changes in weight, the filter will
be replaced. After verification, the useful life of the cap will be extended by 5 more years.
The escape protective hood must be disposed of after 10 years.
Maintenance of the escape protective hood must be performed only by specially trained qualified personnel and
should only be made using original spare parts manufactured by Spasciani.
6.
STORAGE / TRANSPORT
The materials used possess excellent anti-ageing qualities. It is, however, recommended to store the new packed
respirators in ventilated warehouses, at normal room temperature. Do not expose to direct sunlight and to
temperatures lower than -20°C or higher than +50°C.
When carried on the belt, avoid immersing the container in water or exposing it to heat sources.
Extreme temperatures for long periods could affect the product performances. It is recommended to keep the new
devices in their original packaging during transport and storage, so as to protect them from possible impacts and
exposure to dust. Avoid overlapping heavy objects on the device to prevent them from getting damaged or deformed.
It is recommended to keep the new devices in their original packaging during transport and storage in
order to protect them from possible impacts, rubbing exposure to dust.
