DESCRIPTION
AND
FIELD
OF
APPLICATION
1.1.
General
The
FUGE
TAIL
is
a
self
contained
breathing
apparatus
to
be
worn
on
a
side.
FUGE
TAIL
is
designed
to
give
to
the
users
of
demand
airline
systems,
used
in
highly
hazardous
areas,
a
simple
and
effective
escape
device.
FUGE
TAIL
in
fact
integrates
into
the
breathing
system
a
small
capacity
cylinder
to
protect
the
wearer
in
case
of
failure
of
the
main
air
supply.
The
apparatus
has
a
nominal
duration
of
15
minutes.
When
connected
to
an
independent
air
source
(e.g.
the
cylinder
pack
of
trolley
mounted
SPASCIANI
airlines
series
RC
and
RL
or
an
airline
from
a
compressor)
the
apparatus
works
as
an
airline
system.
In
case
of
failure
of
the
main
air
source
the
feeding
is
immediately
switched
to
the
cylinder.
Similarly
the
user
can
disconnect
from
the
airline
and
walk
safely
away
while
breathing
air
from
cylinder.
As
soon
as
the
airline
feeding,
for
any
reason,
is
cut
off,
the
alarm
at
the
regulator
starts
up
warning
the
user
he’s
using
air
from
the
cylinder.
When
connected
to
the
airline
the
FUGE
TAIL
meets
EN
14593
‐
1
for
airline
systems,
when
disconnected
it
meets
EN
402
for
escape
devices.
The
limited
weight
of
the
set
versions
equipped
with
composite
cylinder
allow
to
carry
the
apparatus
along
for
long
time,
as
a
whole
shift;
as
a
precaution
in
case
of
unexpected
danger.
The
heavier
version
with
steel
cylinder,
can
be
carried
along
for
no
more
than
two
or
three
hours
and
not
for
an
entire
working
shift.
While
choosing
the
respirator
bear
in
mind
the
weight
factor
to
best
suit
the
intended
use.
1.2.
Limits
and
Warnings
FUGE
TAIL
shall
not
be
used
underwater
or
for
maintenance
interventions
even
for
short
time
nor
for
rescue.
The
apparatus
can
be
used
in
potentially
explosive
areas
since
the
materials
used
are
known
not
to
be
capable
of
producing
sparks
on
impact.
1.3.
Duration
The
actual
duration
of
The
apparatus
depends
on
the
wearer’s
breathing
rate
and
capacity.
The
nominal
duration
set
by
the
relevant
standard
is
15
minutes
at
a
constant
flow
of
35
l/min.
If
the
apparatus
is
used
to
reach
the
intervention
area
and
connect
to
airline
over
there,
consider
the
reduction
of
autonomy
given
by
this
kind
of
use,
both
in
emergency
and
for
retreat.
1.4.
End
of
service
Whilst
in
use,
the
wearer
can
check
the
remaining
autonomy
by
means
of
the
pressure
gauge.
At
the
end
of
the
air
reserve
the
wearer
can
breathe
from
the
surrounding
atmosphere
by
disconnecting
the
demand
regulator
from
the
mask.
At
that
point
the
user
shall
be
already
away
from
the
hazardous
area.
