Freeze, Condenser and Vacuum Phases
From this menu, you can modify the recipe’s Freeze temperature, Additional Freeze
Time, Condenser setpoint and Vacuum setpoint. These settings are used to establish
the initial conditions for primary freeze-drying. Each of these points must be satisfied
in sequence before Primary Drying can begin.
Note: These settings must be within the unit’s ability. Consult your unit specifications or contact
SP Service for more information.
The menu parameters are defined as follows:

Freeze Temperature (°C)
-40 °C The temperature that the product or shelf must
reach before the system will proceed to the next
phase. Use the
±
key and the numeric keypad to
change the temperature setting in one-degree
increments, up to ± 99 °C.
Additional Freeze Time
(min.)
60 minutes Additional freeze time is used to ensure product
uniformity. The shelf temperature drops as low as
possible for the specified period. Use the numeric
keypad to change the time in five-minute
increments, up to 1255 minutes per step.
Condenser Setpoint (°C) -40 °C The condenser must reach this temperature
before proceeding to the vacuum phase. Use the
numeric keypad to change the temperature setting
in one-degree increments, up to ± 99 °C.
Vacuum Setpoint (mTorr)
200 mTorr The vacuum level that the system must reach
before advancing to primary drying. Use the
numeric keypad to change the vacuum setpoint in
10-degree increments, from 2540 to 0.
