Drive console (DMS-8800D/8400D)
The tape drives are mounted in the drive console. This
console also has space for storage of cassette tapes.
WARNING
This unit has no power switch.
When installing the unit, incorporate a readily
accessible disconnect device in the fixed wiring. If a
fault should occur during operation of the unit, operate
the disconnect device that you have installed to switch
the power supply off.

Cassette tapes can be stored in this console.
Display Panel

INITIAL button
Pressing this button while “Initial Request” is shown
in the display window initializes the system. While
initializing the system, the BUSY indicator is lit.
Initialization requires one to ten minutes, depending on
the size of the system.
Each time the power is turned on, the system should be
initialized.

READY indicator
The indicator lights when the system is ready to be
operated.

BUSY indicator
This indicator remains lit while the system is
operating.
It is also lit during initialization.

ERROR indicator
This indicator lights if some trouble occurs in the
system.
Perform the following according to the message that
appears in the display window.
When “Initial Request” appears:
Press the INITIAL button to reinitialize the system.
When “Power off Request” appears:
Turn the power off and turn it on again.
If the problem persists after executing the above,
consult Sony service personnel.

Arrow buttons
During menu operation, press one of the lit arrow
buttons, and one of the following menu items or values
will appear.

Display window
The operating condition, menu items or values are
displayed here.

ESC/CLR (escape/clear) button
Pressing this button restores the status of one step
before.

ENTER button
During menu operation, pressing this button registers
the set value.

MENU button
Pressing this button displays one of the following
menu items in the display window. If the display
window is closed when you press the button, the
window is turned opened. Press the button again.
To select a displayed item, press one of the arrow
buttons.
