“init 6,” then press the Enter key to restart the unit.
The display changes to “(Repair filesystem)2#

If the repair is completed, the unit starts up normally.

UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)
A UPS protects data from being damaged by a power
failure or some trouble in power sources. If the PCU is
connected via the UPS, power is continuously supplied
to the unit from the battery in the UPS even if power
supply from the power sources may be cut.
Connect the UPS to the serial port of the PCU, then
perform the settings required in “Setups For System
Shutdown and UPS Devices” of the DZC-PSC2. Then
the UPS status is monitored, and when a power failure
is detected, shutdown procedures are automatically
performed.
If the system is used in an area where power failures
occur frequently, it is recommended to use the UPS to
maintain high reliability of the system.
Operations of the DZC-PSC2
The operations and displays of the DZC-PSC2 PetaSite
control software are shown with on-line help.
To refer to on-line help, click on the Help button of the
MMT window of the DZC-PSC2.
MMT On-Line Help
The MMT (Monitoring & Maintenance Terminal)
helps you monitor and maintain the system and drives
mounted in the system with the GUI (Graphical User
Interface). The MMT has the following functions:
• Status display of the PetaSite and mounted drives
• Information on the cassettes loaded in the PetaSite
• Firmware version of the PetaSite and mounted drives
• Monitoring the operating conditions of drives
• Collection and display of log data on the PSC,
PetaSite and each drive
• Settings of the PSC and PetaSite
• On-line help for the above functions
Preinstalled PetaServe/PetaBack
PetaServe and PetaBack are preinstalled on the PCU.
A demo license for 90 days is installed at the factory,
permitting you try the HSM and Backup software after
performing appropriate configuration.
For details, refer to README_J.TXT (Japanese) or
README_E.TXT (English) by clicking on the icon of
the PetaServe manuals of the PCU.
All the documents, including the README files, are
installed under the /osm/doc directory.
For information on the configuration to use the
preinstalled PetaServe/PetaBack and the
interconnection environments, ask your Sony dealer.
To apply PetaServe and PetaBack in practical
operation, you may continue to use them by
purchasing the formal software license.
