hazardous components.

MAIN FEATURES

• 12 V DC / 230 V AC voltage converter (inverter) • Audible warning and automatic power off

when battery becomes depleted • Overload and overheat protection • Overload and output short-
circuit protection • Ideal for powering AC powered appliances where only 12 Volts DC power is
available such as computers, radios, TV sets, VCRs, lights, fans, electric razors, power tools,
battery chargers, etc. in vehicles, on board boats, camp sites or elsewhere

INSTALLATION

1. Unscrew and remove the plastic screws and washers of the red and black connectors on

the rear of the unit. Place the terminal of the corresponding connecting cable onto the
appropriate screw then put the washer on. Then tightly fasten the cables using the plastic
screws.

2. Tightly connect the other end of the cables directly to the 12V battery’s terminals. Make

sure that the connection is tight and the polarity is correct.

3. Connect the AC powered unit to the inverter.
4. Switch the inverter on (“I” position).
5. Switch on the AC powered equipment to be operated.
6. After use switch off the AC powered equipment first then switch off the inverter.
This unit should only be operated using the included connecting cable. Do not modify or extend it.
Do not use a cigarette lighter cable over a power requirement of 300W. The inverter must be
directly connected to the battery as specified. Make sure the polarity indicated (red: positive,
black: negative) is observed and the connections are secure and solid. Depending on the vehicle
new battery terminal connectors might need to be purchased.
Should the vehicle’s battery be drained excessively during use, an audible warning will sound. In
this case switch off the equipment connected to the inverter then the inverter itself. Disconnect the
12V connection then start the vehicle’s engine in order to recharge the battery. If the equipment is
continued  to  be  used  despite  the  audible  warning,  the  inverter’s  output  will  soon  switch  off
automatically in order to protect the battery.
In order to prevent the excessive discharging or overcharging of the battery, it is recommended to
run the engine for 10-20 minutes after every 2 or 3 hours of inverter usage. Before starting the
engine switch off the equipment and disconnect the inverter from the vehicle.

Notes:

On being switched on, certain pieces of equipment briefly draw much more current than during
normal operation. In such cases the equipment might need to be switched on then off several
times for it to operate properly. This is typical of high current TV sets when being powered off low
capacity inverters, for example.
For the sake of stable operation, when equipment containing motors is being used (such as
compressors,  drills,  air  conditioners,  etc.),  the  inverter’s  capacity  should  be  triple  that  of  the
equipment’s power requirement.
The inverter automatically switches off if the power requirement of the equipment being operated
exceeds the inverter’s capacity. This also happens in the case of overheating. The unit features
additional protection from reverse polarity battery connection and output short circuit.

CABLE EXTENSIONS

The 12 V connecting cable is not recommended to be extended due to power loss associated with
increasing voltage drop. Instead an up to 30m quality extension cable can be used to lead the
mains voltage from the inverter to the unit to be operated. Any longer cord may cause power loss.

CHECKING THE MAINS VOLTAGE

The  waveform  of  the  mains  voltage  created  by  the  inverter  is  a  modified  sine  wave.  Only  a
calibrated RMS Voltmeter will provide an accurate measurement result. Other kinds of measuring
devices may measure 20-30V less than the actual voltage.

PROTECTION

The  unit  has  been  equipped  with  multiple  safety  features.  The  mains  voltage  is  cut  off  on
activation. In this case proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the equipment being operated.
2. Turn off the inverter.
3. Pull out the plugs.
4. Check the AC powered equipment’s rated power and proper connection.
5. Use the equipment again once the problem has been resolved. If required, seek the help of a
professional.
The mains output can cut off after long periods of continuous operation even if the battery’s charge
is appropriate. This may be due to overheating. In this case proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the equipment being operated.
2. Turn off the inverter.
3. Wait for it to cool down.
4. Turn it back on later.

The internal fuse can blow in the event of short circuit or reverse polarity connection. In this case seek
the help of a professional. Be sure to use a fuse with the same rating as the original.

MAINTENANCE

Regularly check the connection that they are tight and clean them if necessary. Use only a soft, dry
cloth to clean the unit.

PROVISION OF PROTECTIVE GROUNDING

Before putting the inverter to use, a protective grounding shall be provided just as in the case of
household use.

When used at a fixed location:

There is a screw on the rear of the unit under the negative terminal which is connected to the case,
the protective grounding terminal of the power socket and the appropriate point of the printed
circuit board. Normally this screw should be grounded by connecting it to a metal rod stuck at least
1.2m deep into the ground and with a proper contact.

When used in a vehicle:

The ground cable must be connected to the vehicle’s negative ground contact (chassis). (Only if
the vehicle has a negative ground contact.) If the vehicle has a positive ground contact, the
positive (red) terminal must be connected. If the AC powered equipment to be operated is not
located inside the vehicle, the above-mentioned grounding rod must be used.
When used on board a boat, it must be connected to the grounding cable of the electric circuits
