VENTING WORKSHEET FOR INSTALLER
Use this worksheet to determine the equivalent horizontal run for use with the vent charts on pages 23 and 24. The
information contained within this worksheet may also be useful during installation or in the event that you need technical
assistance from SÓLAS.
NOTE: Calculations for horizontal or vertical sections of pipe are measured between transition joints as shown
in the image below.
Vent runs that are not 90° vertical are considered to have horizontal run but not a vertical rise.
NOTE: Snorkel terminations are counted as (2) 90° elbows.
A. TOTAL VERTICAL VENT RISE: Measured as total vertical distance between flanges of elbows used in vent
system. (See Diagram) _____________ Feet
B. TOTAL HORIZONTAL VENT RUN: Measured as total horizontal distance between flanges of elbows used in vent
system. (See Diagram) _____________ Feet
C
. TOTAL NUMBER OF 90° ELBOWS in excess of 1: _______ = "C"
NOTE: Snorkel terminations are counted as (2) 90° elbows
D. TOTAL NUMBER OF 45° ELBOWS in excess of 1: _______ = "D"
E. 90⁰ Elbow Horizontal Equivalent: C x 3 = _________
F. 45⁰ Elbows Horizontal Equivalent: D x 1.5 = _________
G. Total Horizontal Equivalent: B + E + F = _________
NOTE: Prior to enclosing the wall cavity, test fire the fireplace to ensure it is fully operational.
NOTE: Model FORTY8: the minimum vertical rise is a Duravent 46DVA-12 or equivalent.
Model SIXTY0 and SEVENTY2: the minimum vertical rise is a Duravent 46DVA-24 or equivalent.
