Accessing the SMC WLAN Configuration Tool
After you install the Adapter driver, the SMC WLAN configuration tool icon appears in the
system tray of your computer.
The SMC WLAN configuration tool launches automatically each time you boot your
computer. Using this tool, you can configure your Adapter. If you close the tool, you can
open it again by clicking the
Start
button and clicking
Programs > SMC > SMCWUSB-N4
.
SMC WLAN Configuration Tool Main Screen
The following figure shows the main screen of the SMC WLAN configuration tool. Buttons at
the top let you switch between
the Adapter’s two operating modes, Station mode and AP
mode
(see “Understanding the Adapter’s Operating Mode” on page 32).

Tabs at the top of the screen let you access various settings. The tabs that appear vary,
depending on whether you are in Station mode or AP mode (see Table 3-1). When you click
a tab, the information associated with the tab appears in the main display.
