2.12.2.3 Unloading a scope OUT of an AER Washer (When wash cycle is complete)

Collect Scope Wash Record Sticker from Printer located
under the SmartStation
IMPORTANT NOTE:
IN - Scanning scopes through the AER wash cycle creates a digital record for each
scope wash cycle. The record identifies who loaded the scope IN to the AER, and
which AER chamber the scope is to be washed in, along with time and date and
operator details when loading.
OUT - When scanning a scope OUT of a washer, a digital record identifies who
unloaded the scope from the AER and which AER chamber the scope was washed
in, along with time / date and operator details when unloading. A Scope Wash
Record Sticker is printed.
IMPORTANT -Operators must make a Critical Decision upon UNLOADING.
The Operator must:
1. Confirm that the selected AER cycle was completed successfully – By scanning
a scope out of the AER the Operator takes responsibility for confirming the
success of the wash cycle
– staff should be reminded of this responsibility in
regular staff training
2. The operator must select if the AER cycle is a Special Function Cycle and may
result in a
Short Storage Time – if the cycle is Short Storage, then the Short
Storage Barcode should be swiped – see table above – the Short Storage
function may be used in some regions, if an AER wash cycle omits alcohol flush
for example

– many sites will never use this step.
