2.2.2
SIM Card Holders
The SG-7100 base unit provides a single SIM card slot. The optional Telematics
expansion card offers two additional SIM card slots. The specifications for both are the
same. If only using one SIM card, use the main base unit SIM card holder. If using
multiple SIM cards, both cards should be installed in the Telematics card.

Power Consumption
Typical power consumption @ 12 V DC with no expansion cards installed.

Power consumption is affected by a large number of factors, including expansion cards.
2.2.3.1
Accelerometer Power Consumption
The power usage of the accelerometer on the Telematics card depends on the factors in
Table 3.
Table 3
Accelerometer Power Consumption Factors
Parameter
Description
Sleep Duration
This controls the duration of the power-off interval used by
the accelerometer hardware to save power. If non-zero, the
accelerometer hardware performs the normal sample
processing required for event detection followed by a sleep
period in which the device is suspended to conserve power
[
Sample Rate
The sample rate setting controls the sample rate of the
accelerometer hardware. Using a high sample rate reduces
aliasing and missed events at the expense of power
consumption and CPU processing time [
Event Detectors
The creation/configuration of event detectors can have a
large impact on the power-consumption of the terminal.
Setting up detectors that do not require any software based
post processing result in the lowest power consumption.
Setting up multiple thresholds with multiple durations
which requires post processing keeps the accelerometer and
CPU running longer.
The use of SHOCK detectors while in filtered gravity
compensation mode forces active power mode and the
continuous processing of accelerometer samples.
Active Sample Buffer
Handles
The creation/configuration of event detectors can have a
large impact on the power consumption of the terminal.
Setting up detectors that do not require any software based
post processing will result in the lowest power
