7.1.2.3 DHCP server available, DHCP activated, access via the router software/
the router interface
Open the router software or respectively its web interface and log in with your router password. Usually these
offer an overview of all devices available in the network. Choose this overview and double click the IP-Gateway
to open up its web interface.
Proceed with chapter „Password“ on page 65.
7.1.2.4 No DHCP server available, access via an APIPA address or a manually set IP address
For the initial setup of the IP-Gateway II in a network without DHCP the IP-Gateway generates a respective IP
address in the APIPA mode – here: 169.254.116.51. The subnet mask in this case is 255.255.0.0. The APIPA
technique is a kind of simplified network operation in which the network interfaces installed in a network are
automatically configured and the network’s devices can communicate via the IP protocol. To do so at least
one DNS server must be set in the IP gateway’s web interface, thus the Google DNS server 8.8.8.8 is set as
default.
Attention
Before you start configurating the IP-Gateway via its web interface, you have to
make sure that your personal computer’s and the IP-Gateway’s IP addresses do
not conflict.
To exclude an IP address conflict, proceed as follows:
Choose the screen symbol at the bottom right
of your monitor by clicking on it with the right
mouse button.
Pick Open Network and Sharing Center by
clicking on it with the left mouse button.
Choose
LAN connection
and click it, to open the
