1 • IMPORTANT SAFE-GUARDS
• Read all the instructions.
• This pot cooks under pressure. If used incorrectly it may cause an accident and severe burns. Make sure the cooker is properly closed before
heating (see user guide).
• Every time you plan to use it, check that the valves are not blocked. You must follow the instructions given in paragraph 4 and check all the
safety devices beforehand.
• Always adhere to the following filling quantities:
- Never use the pressure cooker with less than 25 cl (a large glassful) of liquid inside it. In the absence of liquid, overheating can
occur and extensively damage your pressure cooker.
- Never fill the pressure cooker beyond 2/3 of its capacity.
- When cooking food that gives off scum or that swells during cooking (rice, pulses and dried vegetables, etc.), never fill the
pressure cooker beyond 1/3 of its capacity.
- Overfilling the pressure cooker is likely to block the safety devices and create internal overpressure.
• Never put the pressure cooker on a heat source until the lid is completely and properly closed, as explained in the instructions in paragraph 6.
• Do not use the pressure cooker to cook food that is likely to froth up and block the safety device vents such as stewed apples, cranberries,
pearl barley, oatmeal or other cereals, split peas, noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, rhubarb, or currants.
• When cooking mushy products, shake the pressure cooker gently after decompression and before opening the lid to avoid being sprayed by
trapped steam bubbles in the food.
• Some cuts of meat, such as beef tongue, have a surface skin that bloats under pressure. Do not prick the meat if the skin looks bloated, as it
will probably spurt and scald you.
• Never leave the pressure cooker unattended while it is working. Once the cooker has come up to steam, make sure that a little steam escapes
through the regulator at all times.
• When the operating pressure is reached, lower the heat so that the liquid that is creating the steam, does not evaporate.
• Clean your pressure cooker following the instructions given in paragraph 11 after every use.
• Follow the instructions for using your cooker hob.
• Do not put the pressure cooker in a heated oven.• If something goes wrong while you are cooking, turn off the heat immediately and de-
pressurize following the instructions given in paragraph 8. Do not re-use your pressure cooker until you have cleaned it and carried out all the
checks described in paragraphs 11 and 4. If the problem persists, contact your service centre.
• Be particularly careful if you need to move your pressure cooker while in use or coming to the end of cooking. Pick it up only by its handles to
avoid touching the hot surfaces. Use oven gloves if necessary. Never invert it. Watch out for steam that may spurt from the regulator.
• Never force the pressure cooker open. Do not open until you have made sure that the internal pressure has dropped completely. Always
follow the instructions for depressurizing the pressure cooker given in paragraph 8. If it doesn’t open easily, there is residual pressure inside the
cooker. The depressurizing instructions in paragraph 8 must be followed through to the end.
• This pressure cooker is only designed to cook food under pressure. Never use it for any other reason.
• Never use this pressure cooker to fry food under pressure.
• Do not make any modifications to your pressure cooker and do not try out any home repairs that are not described in this instruction leaflet.
• Replace the gasket regularly and only use SITRAM spare parts that are identical to the original parts. Only the base and cover of this SITRAM
pressure cooker model match properly.
• Do not leave children in the vicinity of the pressure cooker while it is in use.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: the manufacturer will not be held liable for any incident or accident caused by the following: modification to any of the safety devices,
use of spare parts not approved by the manufacturer, failure to observe the normal usage conditions described in the manual, failure to observe
the safety recommendations.
2 • YOUR PRESSURE COOKER
3 • BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
• Check that the pressure cooker is suitable for use with your cooker hob. Suitable heat
sources :
• If using on an electric or ceramic hob, always use a smaller or same-diameter ring as the
pressure cooker base. Always check that the base of the pressure cooker is clean to avoid damaging your ceramic hob. If using on a gas hob,
adjust the flame so that it does not extend beyond the cooker base.
• Before using for the first time boil up the contents of one glass of water and two glasses of milk or a glass of water with lemon juice in your
pressure cooker (obviously you should not drink this).
• Wash your pressure cooker carefully in hot water with a little washing-up liquid.
4 • EACH TIME YOU USE YOUR PRESSURE COOKER
• Remove the regulator and check whether the steam outlet duct is not clogged.
• Take off the regulator and check that the steam vent tube and holes as well as the protective filter are clear of obstructions.
• Check that nothing is obstructing the safety valve holes and that you can see the ball.
