5.3.2. Use a fixed IP address
To configure the camera with a static IP address
1. In the left-hand menu, select
Network
as shown in figure 5.6.
2. Select
Use fixed IP address
.
3. In the text box labelled
IP address
, type the camera's IP address.
4. Enter the
subnet mask
,
default gateway
, and
DNS servers
(described below) in the
appropriate boxes.
5. Click
Save
to confirm the new settings.
Upon restart, users can find the camera through the installer program
DeviceSearch.exe
(found in the
DeviceSearch
folder on the camera's CD), or
enter the IP address in the browser's address bar and press
Enter
.
IP address
The IP address identifies the camera on the network.
Subnet mask
The subnet mask is used to determine if the destination is on the same subnet. The default
value is 255.255.255.0.
Default gateway
The default gateway is used to forward frames to destinations on different subnets. An
invalid gateway setting will fail the transmission to destinations on different subnets.
DNS
Primary DNS is the primary domain name server that translates hostnames into IP
addresses. Secondary DNS is a second domain name server used if the primary DNS server
is unavailable.
