4.2 WORKING WITH "WIRE" CHANNELS.
4.2.1 GETTING STARTED IN THE “WIRE 0.01-30 MHz” and “WIRE 0.3-15 KHz” CHANNELS
Connect the ST131.AWL adapter to the ST131 main unit. Connection is made to the same name
terminals.
Turn on the main unit and select from start MENU the “WIRE 0.01-30 MHz” channel to work in
the high frequency range or the "WIRE 0.3-15 KHz” channel to work in the audio frequency range.
After identifying the ST131.AWL adapter, information on the screen will correspond to the FULL
RANGE mode.
Connecting ST131.AWL to study lines provided by:
using the probes;
connecting directly to the investigated line with RJ-45 connector.
Do not allow the simultaneous connection of coupling probes and RJ-45 connector to the
different lines. This can lead to damage of the equipment, because the lines will be galvanically
connected to each other (probe contacts are always connected to the input of ST131.AWL).
In case of line voltage presence with a value above five volts, the "LINE" LEDs light up, located
on the top of ST131.AWL. Moreover, if two LEDs are lit - the line has AC voltage, if one - DC voltage.
Brightness depends on the level of voltage in the line.
LED indicator PWR/LINK with connecting and during operating lights solid green. Flashing once
per second occurs with the facilities transmission from the main unit such as the selection of pairs of
contacts RJ-45 connector and the gain of the input amplifier of ST131.AWL.
4.2.2 PREPARING TO WORK IN THE “WIRE 30-3000 MHz” CHANNEL.
Install the batteries in the ST131.UHF converter (see section 1.7) or connect the power supply
Connect the wire line RF adapter ST131.RAWL to the ST131.UHF converter.
Connect the UHF converter to «I/O» socket of the main unit.
Turn on ST131.UHF with transfer power switch to the «ON» position (position 3, Figure 4).
Check the single indicator flash «LINK» and continuous indicator light «ON/LOW BAT».
Turn on the main unit and select the "WIRE 30–3000 MHz” channel in start MENU.
Thereafter, within a few seconds identification provides and verification of the ST131.UHF
converter followed by successive messages "Plug the ST131.UHF" and "Checking of the ST131.UHF". At
the end the information on the screen will correspond the FULL RANGE mode.
4.2.3 GENERAL REMARKS
Non-contact methods with using of inductive and capacitive sensors are used during collection
of information with using wirelines. Remote detection of these is difficult. It is recommended, if possible,
visually check investigated line along the entire length.
Wireline can be used as a source of intercepted data, power or transmitting antenna.
To measure the line voltage using any type voltmeter.
For preliminary wireline length use devices for cable length define. It is reflectometer or «Cable
tester» option in a device. This test is also good for wireline pair identification.
For a preliminary assessment of the length of the wireline use devices for cable length define.
It is reflectometr or an option in the device under the name "cable tester." The tester also will be useful
for identification of the wire pairs.
