TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND OPERATING MANUAL ST131 <PIRANHA II> and ST131N
41
Modern STM are using different kinds of signal formation, modulation and coding. Along with the
general detection method, which can detect most of analog and digital radio emitting STM there
are some specific STM, where special methods must be applied.
ST131 is ultrawiderange receiver which can detect signals with wavelength from tens of meters
to centimeters. Radio waves propagation with such difference in wave lengths, especially in urban
areas, are significantly different.
Signals re-reflection from walls, ceiling and interior can give false signal level representation.
4.1.4.1 Generalized search model with using of ST13
Divide search of the radiating STM into two consecutive tasks:
• Detection of radio emission.
• Identify the location of the radio emission source.
Generalized model of action sequences with using ST131 "PIRANHA II" is shown in Figure 44.

4.1.4.1.1 Initial settings
Initial settings are:
Determination of frequency range, in which STM detection will be done
Determination of necessary sensitivity
Detector selection
Detailed template creation.
