6.5.1.1 Fitting with redbronze bush
•
Fit the gear unit by means of nut and threaded spindle. The counterforce is provided by the hollow shaft.
The hollow shaft must be exactly aligned with the machine shaft to avoid canting.
When fitting, ensure that the position of the teeth between the machine shaft and
hollow shaft is correct. The correct position can be determined by turning the input
shaft or by swivelling the gear unit lightly around the hollow shaft.

Nut
Instead of the nut and threaded spindle shown in the diagram, other types of equipment such as a hydraulic
lifting unit (type “Lukas”) may be used.
The shaft must be pulled smartly into the hollow shaft as far as the end plate.
The hollow shaft may be tightened against a machineshaft collar only if the gearunit
configuration is one of the following:
Torque arm
Support with gearunit swing base
With a different arrangement the bearings may be excessively stressed.
6.5.1.2 Axial fastening
If the shrink disk is fitted according to instructions (see item 6.6), the gear unit is fixed securely in the axial
direction. Additional axial fastening is not required.
