5.4
Setting the PROFIBUS address and redundancy mode
Definition
Each bus node must be assigned a PROFIBUS address for unambiguous identification on
PROFIBUS DP.
Rules
The following rules apply to the PROFIBUS address of the Compact FF Link in the higher-level
DP master system:
● Valid PROFIBUS addresses: 1 to 125
● In a DP master system, each PROFIBUS address may be assigned once only.
● The same PROFIBUS address must be set for both Compact FF Links in redundancy mode.

Changing the PROFIBUS address
You set the PROFIBUS address using the DIP switch on the front of the Compact FF Link (see
the following procedure)
● Changing the PROFIBUS address during operation is not permitted.
To ensure that the PROFIBUS address is not changed accidentally and unnoticed by the
plant operator, the Compact FF Link outputs a corresponding diagnostic message if the
PROFIBUS address is changed during operation (see section Diagnostics of the Compact
● A change to the PROFIBUS address is accepted by the Compact FF Link only after a switch-
on/switch-off of the power supply of all Compact FF Links of an FF segment.
Select redundancy mode
You select redundancy mode using the "RING" DIP switch (see the following table in section
"Procedure"):
Tools required
You need a screwdriver with a 3 mm wide blade to set the DIP switch on the Compact FF Link.
