descriptions.
Electromagnetic compatibility
Electromagnetic compatibility is the capacity of electrical equipment to function faultlessly in
a specified environment without affecting the environment in an inadmissible manner.
Equipment, associated
A piece of electrical equipment that contains both intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe
power circuits and is configured so that the non-intrinsically safe power circuits cannot impede
the intrinsically safe ones.
Equipment, electrical
Components, power circuits or parts of power circuits that are normally to be found in their
entirety in a single housing.
Equipment, intrinsically safe, electrical
A piece of electrical equipment in which all power circuits are intrinsically safe.
Equipotential bonding
Electrical connection (equipotential bonding conductor) that brings the bodies of electrical
equipment and external conductive bodies to an equal or almost equal potential level to prevent
disturbing or dangerous voltages between these bodies.
FF address
Each bus node must be assigned an FF address for unambiguous identification on
FOUNDATION Fieldbus.
The following addresses are reserved in PCS 7:
● Range for the bus link:
– Address 16: (left) Compact FF Link
– Address 17: with redundant configuration: right Compact FF Link
● Address range 20 to 35: Typically for FF devices
● Address range 248 to 251: Range for temporary FF devices
