SIMATIC PCS 7 as of V8.1 SP1
–
STEP 7 as of V5.5 SP4 HF6
The version of STEP 7 installed with PCS 7 V8.1 SP1 can be updated with the Hardware
Upgrade Package (HUP) for the support of Compact FF Link
.
–
SIMATIC PDM as of V8.2 SP1 with add-on package "SIMATIC PDM Communication
FOUNDATION Fieldbus"
● Hardware requirements:
– The Compact FF Link is connected via an external CP 443‑5 communication processor:
- Standard CPU V4.0 or higher
- H‑CPU V4.0 or higher
– The Compact FF Link is connected via the internal PROFIBUS DP interface of the CPU:
- Standard CPU V5.1 or higher
– For redundant configuration:
- BM Compact FF Link
Parameter assignment of the FF devices
The FF device parameters are assigned using
SIMATIC PDM from a PG/PC connected to the
higher-level PROFIBUS DP or the process control system. Additional information can be found
in Operating Manual Process Control System PCS 7, SIMATIC PDM 8.2 (

Switchover time on FF in redundancy mode
When there is a master-to-standby switchover or the active Compact FF Link fails, the FF
devices are processed via the standby Compact FF Link.
In redundancy mode, all states of the inputs and outputs are retained at a switchover of the
active Compact FF Link to the other Compact FF Link. Without changes to the FF configuration,
the maximum switchover time amounts to 70 ms.
The switchover time is defined as the time between activation of the standby FF Link and
availability of the input data.
Communication links from the PG / PC to the FF devices
You can communicate with the FF devices via the Compact FF Link using
SIMATIC PDM.
Additional information can be found in Commissioning Manual Process Control System PCS 7,
FOUNDATION Fieldbus (
http://www.siemens.com/pcs7-documentation
).
In redundancy mode, all communication links from the PG / PC to the FF devices are retained
at a switchover of the active Compact FF Link to the other Compact FF Link.
