Replacing a bus link
Replacing a faulty Compact FF Link
Perform the following steps to replace a faulty Compact FF Link.
1. Switch off the power supply for the faulty Compact FF Link.
2. Disconnect the faulty module from the power supply.
3. Pull the bus connector from the PROFIBUS DP interface of the faulty module.
4. Disconnect the FOUNDATION Fieldbus connection of the faulty module.
5. Replace the faulty module.
6. Set the PROFIBUS address of the new Compact FF Link.
7. If necessary, set the redundancy mode.
8. Plug the bus connector into the PROFIBUS DP interface of the new module.
9. Connect the FOUNDATION Fieldbus to the new Compact FF Link.
10.Connect the power supply to the new Compact FF Link.
Note
Replacing a Compact FF Link
The pulling and plugging of a Compact FF Link is only permitted in de-energized state. The
24 V DC power supply of the Compact FF Link must be switched off for this purpose.
When a single-channel Compact FF Link is being replaced, the FF segment is not available.
Downloading to the FF devices is not required in the case of CiF.

Using a previously used Compact FF Link
To use a Compact FF Link that was previously used in another system, you must first restore
it to its factory settings.

For redundant mode of the Compact FF Link
In the case of a redundantly configured bus link, it is possible to replace one of the Compact
FF Links during operation. The FF devices that are connected to the bus link remain in
operation.
