Using a previously used FF device
To use an FF device that has been previously used in another system, you must first restore
it to its factory settings.
Information regarding this can be found in Operating Manual
Process Control System PCS 7,
SIMATIC PDM.

Control in the Field (CiF)
Control in the Field (CiF)
The "Control in the Field" (CiF) FF function enables you to control the input and output blocks
between the FF devices on an FF segment without CPU intervention, thus without transfer to
the process image. Control loops are also possible. The CiF functionality runs as long as the
power supply of the FF segment is guaranteed and at least one FF Link Master on the FF
segment is active. There are FF devices that can operate as an FF Link Master on the FF
segment.
CiF in PCS 7
When the Compact FF Link is used, it is always the FF Link Master. If CiF is used on the FF
segment, the active Compact FF Link, as the LAS, assumes the control of the data
transmission. No communication with the H-system is needed for the CiF function. The DP
master system can be disconnected from the bus link without disturbing the CiF function.
After Power Off/On of the Compact FF Link, the CiF function is resumed because the schedule
is retentive (see section Startup behavior in non-redundant mode (Page 46)).
