Identification and maintenance data (I&M data)
Definition and features
Identification and maintenance data (I&M) is information stored in a module to support you in
● Checking the system configuration
● Locating hardware modifications of a system
● Correcting errors in a system
Identification data (I-data) is information about the module, such as the article number and
serial number, some of which is labeled on the module enclosure. I-data is manufacturer
information about the module and can be read only.
Maintenance data (M-data) is system-related information, such as the installation location and
installation date. M-data is created during configuration and written to the module where it is
saved retentively.
Modules can be uniquely identified online by means of the I&M data.
This data is available on the Compact FF Link.
Reading and writing the I&M data
The I&M data is displayed in
PCS 7 in the "Module status – Compact FF Link" and "Properties
- DP slave" tabs (see online help for
STEP 7).
The M-data of modules can be entered in
HW Config (for example in a dialog box during
configuration).
The I&M data are accessed in accordance with the IEC 61158-6 standard.
The interface module from which the I&M data is to be read must be accessible online.
