Preset
The preset function makes it possible to automate the initialization of shelf-operating equipment and
other rail-bound traveling vehicles at maintenance, operation startup or replacement. During initializa-
tion, a desired output value (preset) is set at a defined position (initialization position). For variants with
multifunctional input MF1 this input is parameterized as preset. Preset can also be activated by com-
munication interface. The value of the desired measured value output is set as preset value at the
initialization position.
Note for SSI measurement value output that no negative measured values are generated (negative
values result in measurement value “0” for SSI output).
Procedure Example:
Parameterize MF1 input as preset input and enter the desired preset value.
Stop the vehicle at the preset position.
MFActivate MF1, e.g., via the proximity initiator, photoelectric switch or switch.
The output value of the DME4000 is equal to the set preset value at this position.
The multifunctional input works edge-triggered: Active 0:
, Active 1:

PROFIBUS Interface
The PROFIBUS is connected to the DME4000 in accordance with the ENCODER profile. DME4000 can
operate optionally as class 1 or class 2 (recommended) encoder then. DME4000 is then a linear abso-
lute encoder. A SICK profile is also implemented based on the ENCODER profile (class 2). Both profile
types lead into the same GSD file. In addition to SPS-controlled switching off of the laser, the direct
transmission of state information bits is provided in a cyclical measurement telegram in the SICK profile.

Measurement value
Current distance determined from measurement core to reflector
Ausgabewert
Measurement value + offset
Offset
Can be parameterized; if there is a negative output value in connection with SSI: output value = 0
Preset-value
Can be parameterized, function triggering: (measurement value is constant at preset, i.e., vehicle
does not move)
SSI: Preset input is active (edge is not active)
PROFIBUS: Preset input is active or PROFIBUS command
DeviceNet: Preset is activated
CANopen: Preset is activated
Function: offset = preset value – measurement value at preset
CAUTION: The preset function with PROFIBUS is activated with the preset mode parameter. As a
result, the offset value stored per GSD is not transmitted to the DME; the value set by the preset is
retained.
If this parameter is set to offset mode, the offset parameter is transmitted to the DME.
