4. U s ing an oh mmeter, connect test p robes to
terminals "C" and "E" o n the relay.
Observ e the oh mmeter reading.

Th ere should b e li ttle or no resistance
betw een terminals "C" and "E", ind icating
that there is continuity and that the relay
is fun ctioning properly.
If there is no con tinuity betw een th e
terminals, the relay is defective and needs
rep laced.
6.
To test t he relay when energized , conn ect a
12-volt pow er supply to terminals "A" and
"B" (brass terminals) on th e relay. Touch
ohmmeter test probes to the "E" and "D"
terminals on th e relay and observ e the
ohmmeter. Little or no resistance between
the ter minals indicates that there is
continu ity and that th e rel ay is
function ing prop erly. If there is no
continu ity between the terminals, th e
relay is d efectiv e and needs rep laced.

Th ere should be h igh resistance betw een
terminals "C" and "E", indicating that
there is no continu ity an d th at the relay is
function ing properly.
I f th ere is
continu ity between the terminals, th e
relay is d efectiv e and needs rep laced.
