3.10.3 Power supply
The function unit consists of the following internal elements.
Power rectifier and line filter
Energy is supplied to the device via a three-phase current supply system, a power rec-
tifier and a line filter. The power rectifier supplies the DC link voltage. The line filter on
the supply system end complies with limit class C3 to EN 61800-3 without further
measures.
DC 24 V internal power supply
The device is equipped with an integrated 24 V switched-mode power supply for self-
supply, which provides a protective extra-low voltage from the DC link according to
PELV (Protective Extra Low Voltage). The protective extra-low voltage supplies the
control section of the power section and is then used as output voltage at the plug
connectors for device supply. Thus, it is possible to operate the device self-powered or
to connect it to an external backup voltage depending on the application. The backup
voltage input supplies the complete communication and control unit and the control
section of the power section. For more information on the respective wiring, refer to
the description of the connections for the power supply in chapter "Electrical connec-
tions" (→

Optional components
24 V power supply unit for external supply
An integrated power supply unit uses the DC link voltage to generate a DC 24 V
voltage for externally connected components. The 24 V supply corresponds to a pro-
tective extra-low voltage according to PELV (Protective Extra Low Voltage). The
power supply unit meets all requirements for protective separation of power and elec-
tronics connections in accordance with EN 61800-5-1.
