Connection of RS485 interface (connector X34)
The RS485 interface enables you to interconnect up to 32 units.
You can connect the following devices to the RS485 interface:
•
Engineering PC, or
•
DOP11A operator terminal, or
•
A maximum of three MOVIMOT
®
gearmotors with integrated frequency inverter

Cable specification
•
Use a 4-core twisted and shielded copper cable (data transmission cable with
braided copper shield). The cable must meet the following specifications:
– Core cross section 0.25 ... 0.75 mm
2
(AWG 23 ... 18)
– Cable resistance 100 ... 150
Ω
at 1 MHz
– Capacitance per unit length
≤
40 pF/m at 1 kHz
For example, the following cable is suitable:
– BELDEN (www.belden.com), data cable type 3105A
Shielding
•
Connect the shield to the electronics shield clamp on the inverter or higher-level con-
troller and make sure it is connected over a wide area at both ends.
Cable length
•
The permitted total cable length is 200 m.
Terminating
resistor
•
Dynamic terminating resistors are installed. Do not connect any external terminat-
ing resistors.

There must not be any difference of potential between the units connected with the
RS485. Take suitable measures to avoid potential displacement, such as connecting the
unit ground connectors using a separate cable.
