Material needed (for 6 samples):
• 6 glass funnels Ø100mm
• 6 filter papersp Ø100 normal, (Not slow ).
• 6 digestion tubes ( SELECTA Code 4042300).
• Digestion Bloc + RAT + Fume removal. ( SELECTA Codes 4 4 4005072 )
• 6 erlenmeyer 500ml.
• Bath in order to hot the water at 60ºC
Reagents:
• 1L. of HCl 4N ( 350ml de HCl 35% and complete until 1L. with distillated water ).
• Granules of purmice stone.
Procedure:
• Number the digestion tubes.
• Weigh around 3gr. of sample and to put it into the digestion tube.
• Add 150 ml of HCl 4N in each tube.
• Add a spoonful of granules of purmice stone.
• Put this into the bloc and to digest at 50ºC - 200ºC during 1 hour (see page 12 table). It has to boil
slowly.See the below photo.
• Retire the digestion Bloc and let cool down.
• Prepare the Erlenmeyer with the funnels and the filter paper. See the below photo.
• Number the erlenmeyer.
• Empty the content of the sample tube into the funnel with filter paper.
• Clean the tube with hot water ( ±60ºC ) y and empty into the funnel. To repeat it until water that goes out of
the tube is transparent.
• Put hot water ( 60ºC ) on the funnel.
• Empty the erlenmeyers.
• Repeat the operation until the water of erlenmeyer be transparent (at minimum 10 times).
• Let dry the paper filter.
• You will observe that keeps the fat of the sample.
• Proceed to the extraction with the det-gras equipment. Let dry 2-3h, and to extract in two phases: Boiling,
rinsing, let dry 30 minutesextraer en dos fases: Boiling, rinsing, dry 30 min
