The sample tube’s temperature is
above 60ºC after the distillation.
5.1 Insert/ Remove the sample tube
• Open the safety door
• Insert the tube starting to introduce the PTFE tube.
• Push down the fixing lever.
• Close the safety door.
Proceed similar to remove the sample tube.
5 Operation
The control panel allows function selection and shows the distiller alarm status.
Once the unit is plugged in, put it on, by pressing the main switch. The unit goes
to stand by status (ON).
Note: If main switch is press consecutively with an interval of less than 3 seconds,
the unit could start in abnormal mode. So wait few seconds to restart the unit.
On starting the unit for the first time, the water pump starts to work, automatically,
to fill the steam generator.
This operation, usually, takes near 40 seconds and it will stops, also automatically
when the steam generator is filled. At 15s an alarm sounds and the unit becomes
blocked. Stop the unit by Main switch, wait 4s and restart. Repeat this operation 3
or 4 times. until the steam generator is filled.
If, after this 1 minute approx., this operation is not finished, please check that the
water tank has water (Visual check on the right hand side level), also be sure that
the water has the suitable conductivity. (See 4.4)
5.2 Operation modes
A Kjeldahl distillation includes the following operations sequence:
• Boric adding,
• NaOH adding,
• Timed steam distillation
• Sample empty to waste
The PRO-NITRO «S» can do this as an automatic sequence ( «AUTOMATIC» mode)
or run, separately, each operation (mode «MANUAL»).
