9 Maintenance
The distiller PRO-NITRO «S» uses NaOH and concentrated acids for the analysis
process. These substances are very aggressive and will degrade some parts of the
unit.
To avoid derating and increase distiller’s life a suitable cleaning routine should be
done.
9.1 Cleaning the unit
9.1.1 Clean the distillation circuit
After any session of analysis, distillate around 50ml of water for 5 minutes in order
to remove any rest of NaOH on the distillation glassware. See 6.2
9.1.2 Cleaning the chamber
The chamber is protected with a chemical resistant coating. But it should be
cleaned, daily, to increase its life.
Use a well damp cloth to clean the chamber and its components to remove any
rest of NaOH.
Clean the tray with abundant water.
9.1.3 Cleaning of closing joint
Near each three months clean, with water, the possible rest of NaOH observed on
the closing joint.
Extract the closing pulling it and turning it downwards.
9.1.4 Cleaning the NaOH and Boric pipping (monthly)
Clean with distilled water rests of NaOH and fixative solution the tank hose connec
-
tors
• Cleaning the 2 Litres tank: Clean it with abundant water for a few minutes.
• Cleaning the NaOH: Fill the NaOH tank with water, connect the hose connector,
Insert a sample tube, and press the NaOH button until fill the sample tube.
Repeat with Boric pump.
9.1.5 Cleaning the Steam generator
Stop the unit by the main switch. Open the manual valve (Empty steam generator
valve) and wait until it becomes empty. Close valve and restart the unit.
The steam generator refills automatically as explained on paragraph 4.
9.2 Hose inspection (monthly)
Visually check the hose condition and its connections to components.
To avoid premature derating of the unit due to liquid leakage, replace as soon as
possible any hose that have any leakage or damage.
9.2.1 Hose replacing
Take these cautions to hose replacing:
• Unplug the unit from the electrical power supply.
• Try, as you can, (see 9.3) that the hose to remove is empty.
• Use only tubes material as indicated on 11.2.
• Use clamps as is factory assembled.
• Once the hose is replaced, it must be checked for leakages.
Clean regularly rest of NaOH between
the closing joint and the splash
protector.
Clean periodically the NaOH
tank and fixative solution tank hose
connector.
