Appendix F Mask ROM Code Development
You can use the S1C17653, which includes a Flash memory and all the S1C17153 functions, for developing mask
ROM codes for the S1C17153. However, take the differences shown below into consideration and make sue that the
codes do not access to the functions not implemented in the S1C17153.

Precautions on oscillator/clock settings
(1) Clock sources
The S1C17153 does not include the OSC3A and OSC1B oscillator circuits. Always set the oscillator cir-
cuits to off.
Do not select OSC3A as the clock source for the system clock and peripheral circuits (T16A2, UART, and
LCD).
(2) OSC1 clock selection
The S1C17653 includes the OSC1A and OSC1B oscillator circuits and either one can be selected as the
OSC1 (32 kHz) clock source. To use the OSC1A clock in the S1C17653, set the OSC1SEL/CLG_SRC reg-
ister to 1 (OSC1 clock source = OSC1A) in the initialization process. The OSC1A oscillator on/off control
method is the same between the both models.
(3) OSC1A oscillation frequency adjustment
The S1C17653 allows adjustment of the OSC1A oscillation frequency via the theoretical regulation func-
tion (TR) implemented. Do not use this function as not included in the S1C17153. Use an external gate
capacitor to adjust the OSC1A oscillation frequency of the S1C17153.
