The ICS switch allows the grate to
open beneath the hull to dislodge
weeds or accumulated debris near the
water intake.
Weeds, shells or debris can get caught
on the intake grate, drive shaft and/or
impeller. A clogged water intake may
cause troubles such as:
1.
Cavitation:
Engine speed is high
but boat moves slowly due to re-
duced jet thrust;
jet pump compo-
nents may be damaged.
2.
Overheating:
Since jet pump oper-
ation controls the flow of water to
cool the engine’s exhaust, clogged
intakes will cause the engine to
overheat and damage internal en-
gine components.
The clogged area can be cleaned as
follows:
Inlet Clearance System (ICS): Place
shifter in neutral position.
Let the
boat stop by itself then push the ICS
button. This will lower the water intake
grates to allow weeds or other debris
to escape from grate. Grate will open
and retract automatically with a 10-sec-
ond delay before returning to the
closed, or up position. It may be neces-
sary to repeat the procedure.
After releasing ICS button, wait about
10 more seconds
before moving
shifter into either forward or reverse to
allow grates to return to the up posi-
tion, completing the cycle.
CAUTION:
Operating the boat with
the water intake grate in lower posi-
tion will cause damage to the ICS.
In severe conditions if the above meth-
od does not work, the following can be
performed:
– With engine running, put shift lever
in reverse position and vary throt-
tles quickly several times.
– Try accelerating again.
Most of the time, debris will escape
from the propulsion system.
Out of water cleaning:
If the system
is still clogged, shut off the engine by
removing the safety lanyard.
From underneath boat, manually clean
water intake area. If the system is still
clogged, refer to an authorized Sea
Doo sport boat dealer for servicing.
CAUTION:
Avoid operation in weed-
ed areas. If unavoidable, vary speed.
Weeds tend to entangle more at
steady and slow speeds. Inspect wa-
ter intake grate for damage. Refer to
an authorized Sea-Doo sport boat
dealer for repair as necessary.
6) Horn Switch
1. Horn switch
Press and hold the switch to activate
the horn.
Release the switch to stop horn.
WARNING
Keep away from intake grate while
engine is on. Items such as long
hair, loose clothing or personal flo-
tation device straps can become
entangled in moving parts result-
ing in severe injury or drowning.
WARNING
Always remove safety lanyard from
DESS post to prevent accidental en-
gine starting before cleaning the jet
pump area.
