Crossing Waves
Reduce speed when crossing waves.
Always be prepared to steer and bal-
ance as necessary.
When crossing wakes, always keep a
safe distance from boat ahead.
Stopping/Docking
The boat is slowed by water drag. The
stopping distance will vary depending
on weight, speed, water surface condi-
tion, presence and direction of wind
and current.
The operator should become familiar-
ized with the stopping distance under
different conditions.
Reduce speed to idle. Shift to neutral,
reverse or forward as required when
approaching a dock then shut off the
engine just before coming alongside.
When close to the dock, shut off the en-
gine.
Beaching
CAUTION:
It is not recommended to
run the boat onto the beach.
Come slowly to the beach and shut off
the engine using the safety lanyard
when water depth is 90 cm (3 ft) under
the hull, then pull the boat to the
beach. Ensure that all accessories are
OFF.
A. 90 cm (3 ft) of water under the hull
As necessary, the cooling system of the
engine should be flushed before restart-
ing, in order to remove sand or shell ac-
cumulation which may clog the water
passages. Refer to POST-OPERATION
CARE and look for COOLING SYSTEM
FLUSHING.
Shutting Off the Engine
To shut off the engine, completely pull
back throttle lever then remove safety
lanyard or press the engine start/stop
button.
Always remove safety lanyard from
the DESS post.
WARNING
When crossing wakes, slow down.
Operator and passenger(s) can
brace themselves by posting. Do
not jump waves or wakes.
WARNING
Directional control is reduced when
throttle is decreased and lost when
engine is off.
WARNING
In shallow water, shells, sand, peb-
bles or other objects could be
drawn up by the jet pump and
thrown rearward.
WARNING
Should the engine be shut off,
boat directional control is not
available. Never leave the safety
lanyard connected on the DESS
post when boat is not in operation
to avoid unauthorized use by chil-
dren.
