WARNING
V-Berth
The V-berth is located in the forward area of the
cabin. An access hatch for the rope locker and
stereo speakers are located on the forward V-berth
bulkhead. A storage compartment is located be-
low the V-berth. Additional storage is provided
by a shelve on the starboard side and there is
storage for two rods on the port side.
Daylight and fresh air is provided to this area by
an overhead opening hatch. Additional lighting is
provided by a 12-volt lights on the bulkhead and
an overhead light in the headliner. Refer to the
Ventilation Systems chapter for more information
on operation the hatches and screens.
Carbon Monoxide Detector
A carbon monoxide (CO) detector is installed on
the forward cabin bulkhead. If excess carbon
monoxide fumes are detected, an audible beeping
will sound indicating the presence of the toxic gas.
This detector is protected by the CO Dect circuit
breaker in the accessory circuit breaker panel and
is activated whenever the house battery switch is
ON. A green light on the detector indicates that it
is activated. Always make sure the house battery
is activated and the green light is lit whenever the
cabin is occupied.
A by-product of combustion, carbon monoxide
is invisible, tasteless, odorless, and is produced
by all engines and some heating and cooking ap-
pliances. The most common sources of CO on
boats are the engines, auxiliary generators and
propane or butane stoves. These produce large
amounts of CO and should never be operated
while sleeping.
You should read the owner’s manual supplied by
the detector manufacturer for instructions and
additional information regarding the hazards of
carbon monoxide gas. Also read more about car-
bon monoxide, carbon monoxide detectors, and
proper ventilation in the Ventilation System and
Safety Equipment chapters in this manual. If you
did not receive a manual for your carbon monox-
ide detector, please contact the Scout Customer
Service Department.

ACTIVATION OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR
INDICATES THE PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE (CO)
WHICH CAN BE FATAL. EVACUATE THE CABIN IMMEDIATELY.
DO A HEAD COUNT TO CHECK THAT ALL PERSONS ARE
ACCOUNTED FOR. DO NOT REENTER THE CABIN UNTIL
IT HAS BEEN AIRED OUT AND THE PROBLEM FOUND AND
CORRECTED.
