Battery monitoring*:
Automatic charging module
When the calibration unit is supplied by
mains power, the battery pack is charged
through an automatic charging module.
Once the preset end-of-charging voltage
(10.6 V) is reached, the charging current
(100 mA) is automatically reduced. This pre-
vents the battery pack from overcharging.
Power supply requirements:
14.5 V DC 530 mA
Allowable ambient temperature
of the calibration unit:
0°C .... +40°C
Type of protection:
IP 40 during operation with filter holder,
connector and PVC hose

Dimensions:
Length = 300 mm (without filter holder)
Width = 390 mm with handles
Height = 182 mm min.,
200 mm max. (adjustable feet)
Type of connector on the inlet
and outlet ports for the filter holder
and MD8 airscan/AirPort MD8:
Bayonet-design quick connect
* The calibration unit can be run permanently on the battery charger without
overloading the rechargeable battery pack. The unit can also be used when
recharging (run on mains power supply).
We recommend leaving the calibration unit connected to the battery charger |
power supply unit when it is not being used to prevent the rechargeable
batteries from becoming completely discharged.
Important Notes
Caution!
– Do not expose the calibration unit
to strong vibrations.
– To prevent contamination with
airborne particles, do not operate
the calibration unit without a filter
in place.
– The maximum flow rate is 16 m
3
/h.
This rate may not be exceeded over
long time periods.
– Only connect the calibration unit
to MD8 airscan | AirPort MD8 air
samplers with a regulated air flow
rate. Never connect the calibration
unit to an air sampler with unknown
flow rate or you may possibly over-
load the flow rate measuring
device.
– The unit can be operated independ-
ent of mains power supply. When
operating the unit on mains power
supply however, make sure that
voltage rating is correct. If the unit
is operated independently of mains
power most of the time, it should
not be recharged using the power
supply unit until the prompt
appears in the display. This mini-
mizes a drain on battery capacity
caused by the battery’s memory
effect. When the unit is permanent-
ly operated on the mains power
supply, it is recommended to leave
the unit connected to the mains
power supply even when it is turned
off because the built-in automatic
charging system switches over
to a very low charge conservation
current during these times.
– Do not expose the unit to extreme
fluctuations in temperature or
humidity during operation or stor-
age. If fluctuations in temperature
and humidity cannot be avoided,
allow 2 hours for acclimatization.
– Use other than for the intended
purpose, or improper operation,
frees the manufacturer from all
liability.
