The accuracy of the flow rate meas-
urement depends on the horizontal
alignment of the calibration unit.
For this purpose, a display is located
on the right on the upper side (level
indicator, f) to allow accurate hori-
zontal alignment and is the reason
why the underside of the unit is
equipped with 4 adjustable feet
(Fig. 1, g).
The RS 232 serial interface (9-pin
sub D male connector, h) is located
on the lower left of the upper panel,
and used for porting peripheral
devices, like a PC with a terminal
program, for reading and storing
data.
2 foldable carrying handles are
located on the right and left side
panels (Fig.1, i)

Use of the
Calibration Unit
Fig. 1
The unit consists of a stainless steel
housing with an air inlet port for
attachment of a 17655 filter holder
or adapter for the gelatin filter
units on the front panel (Fig. 1,
see a) and an air outlet port on the
rear panel (see b) for attaching an
17085 hose for connection to the
air sampler (bayonet-design quick
connect). Located on the right side
(Fig. 1, c) is the connector for the
battery charger | power supply unit
as well as an opening (d), through
which the reset button located
inside can be operated, for example,
by inserting a ballpoint pen.
This reset button is used to switch
off the unit by circumventing the
automatic shutoff (the calibration
unit is not equipped with an OFF
switch; the calibration unit switches
off automatically after 1 minute).
The start button (e) is located on
the upper side of the calibration
unit to the right of the LCD display
(Fig.1). This button is used to
switch the unit on and is then in
the ready mode.
The Sartorius 16756 calibration
unit is a portable flow rate measur-
ing device that was specially devel-
oped for flow rate calibration of the
MD 8 airscan and AirPort MD8 air
samplers.
