
Troubleshooting
Should you encounter problems with your applicator, the following sections list the possible
causes and recommended solutions. If the problem persists even after taking the steps
recommended in this section, call your Salford dealer. Before you call, have this operator’s
manual and the applicator serial number ready.

Hydraulic Spinners Will Not
Spin.
-No Hydraulic Flow From Pump
or Tractor. Pump is defective.
Engage PTO or Tractor
Hydraulic Flow.
-Hydraulic Lines Not Connected
to Same Outlet on Tractor.
Pressure and Return Lines
Must Be on Same Remotes
on Tractor.
-Circuit is “Checked”. Hydraulic
Flow Has Been Supplied in
Both Raise and Lower. Return
Coupler Has Excessive
Pressure Preventing Flow.
Carefully Release Excess
Pressure On Return Circuit.

-Spinner Priority Flow Control
Valve is Closed.
-Pioneer Couplers Defective.
-Open Spinner Priority Flow
Control Valve.
Check Condition of Couplers.
Hydraulic Spinner Speed is
Not Adjustable.
-Priority Flow Control Valve
Spool is Stuck or Scotched.
-Spool In Valve Is Not
Moving. Remove Adjustment
Stem. Spray Lubricant Into
Spool. Push On Spool With
Small Diameter Screw Driver
to Free Spool. Valve May
Need To Be Removed To
Free Spool By Pushing On
Bottom of Spool.
Conveyor not Turning
-No hydraulic flow from pump or
tractor. Pump is weak or worn.
-Relief valve is weak or
contaminated with trash.
-Conveyor motors worn.
-The unit is overloaded.
-Rate control system flow
control valve not opening.
-Dump Valve Switch is On.
-Engage PTO or Tractor
Hydraulic Flow.
-Pressure and Return Lines
Must Be on Same Remotes
on Tractor.
-Replace Relief
-A hydraulic service
professional should flow test
the spreader.
-Check controller settings.
-Turn off dump valve. If using
a rate controller, disconnect
dump valve.
