5.1.12 Maintenance and Troubleshooting Radiobeacon Control

TROUBLESHOOTING: DATA LINK

NOTE: Communications between the local and remote panels is full duplex bi-directional over
the same pair of wires. It is possible, however, to have data link problems which affect only
communications in one direction. These may occur within the Serial Interface Board, the Modem
Board, call Com Board, handset or the data link itself. To isolate the associated problem,
proceed as follows.

1 If it is felt that the problem is due to the data link itself or a quick equipment check of the

remote control system is desired before installation with the serial data link, the line output
from the Remote Radiobeacon Control Panel can be directly connected to the serial data link,
the line output from the Remote Radiobeacon Control Panel can be directly connected to the
serial data link terminals on the Local Radiobeacon Control rear panel. Apply power to both
the Local Radiobeacon Control Panel and the Remote Radiobeacon Control Panel.

2 Check the Link Data Update LED's on the local and remote panels. If one or more of the

Update LED's are not flashing, or are not flashing consistently, use the troubleshooting flow
chart, figure "Troubleshooting Flow Chart," to determine the probable cause.
