EIDE Connector, CN9
The EIDE connector is a 44-pin, 0.1 inch connector that can connect to a variety of EIDE or IDE
devices. The connector provides all signals and power needed to use a 2.5" form factor (laptop) hard
drive. Also, the first 40 pins of the connector provide all of the signals needed to interface to a 3.5"or
5" form factor hard drive, CD-ROM drive, or other EIDE device. The larger form factors use a 40-
pin, 0.1 inch spacing connector, so an adapter cable or adapter board is needed.
In order to use faster than UDMA Mode 2 (Ultra ATA/33), an 80 conductor cable is required. The
BIOS automatically detects the presence of an 80 conductor cable. To connect to an 80 conductor
cable to CN12, and adapter board is required.
