OPERATION
WARNING:
Use only butane fuel refill suitable for filling lighters.
Follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions on
the product. Failure to follow these instructions
could result in a fire and cause serious personal
injury.
WARNING:
Always stop the heat gun and allow the unit to
cool completely before adding butane. Never add
butane if the heat gun is warm. Fill the heat gun
outside or in a well ventilated area away from open
flames and sparks. Do not smoke while adding
butane. Failure to follow these instructions could
result in a fire and cause serious personal injury.
Turn the temperature adjustment dial completely
clockwise to the
OFF
position and squeeze the switch
trigger to extinguish the heat gun’s flame.
Allow the heat gun to cool completely.
Remove the battery pack.
With the heat gun upside down, insert the tip of the butane
refill canister (not included) into the fill valve until it is fully
seated.
WARNING:
Do not operate the heat gun in an inverted position,
which could cause the internal flame to extend
beyond the nozzle. An exposed flame could cause
serious personal injury or property damage to
combustible materials.
Press down on the butane refill canister (not included) until
the gas begins to fill the heat gun. The heat gun should
be full in approximately 30 - 60 seconds.
NOTE:
Filling time may vary.
Stop filling and remove the butane refill canister (not
included) once the gas begins to overflow.
NOTE:
Clean up spilled butane.
NOTE:
Do not let butane come in contact with skin or
eyes. If butane comes in contact with the eyes, wash them
immediately with clean water. If irritation is still present,
see a doctor immediately.
WARNING:
If liquid butane is overfilled in to overflow
reservoir, immediately stop filling, place unit in
a well ventilated area and wait 5 minutes before
operating. Failure to follow these instructions could
result in a fire and cause serious personal injury.
Turn the tool right side up.
WARNING:
Allow vapors to dissipate and the butane to settle
for five minutes before operating the heat gun. If
gas is present during operation, it could ignite and
result in serious personal injury.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 2, page 10.
Insert the battery pack into the product as shown.
Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack
snap into place and that battery pack is secured in the
product before beginning operation.
Depress the latches to remove the battery pack.
For complete charging instructions, see the operator’s
manuals for your battery pack and charger.
STARTING AND STOPPING THE HEAT GUN
See Figure 3, page 10.
NOTE:
NEVER point tool at yourself or others when using,
cooling, or handling tool.
To start the heat gun:
Turn the temperature adjustment dial completely counter-
clockwise to the max position ( ).
NOTE:
The temperature adjustment dial controls the flow
of butane gas to the heating mechanism inside the tool.
Turn the dial clockwise to reduce or stop the gas flow.
Turn the dial counter-clockwise to increase the gas flow.
Squeeze and hold the switch trigger to ignite the butane
gas and turn the heat gun on.
NOTE:
Directly after the switch trigger is squeezed, the
LED indicator below the temperature adjustment dial will
blink slowly. If the butane gas is successfully ignited,
after a few seconds the LED indicator will turn solid and
the heat gun will be ready for use. If the LED indicator
goes from blinking slowly to blinking rapidly, ignition was
unsuccessful. Wait 30 seconds, then squeeze and hold
the trigger again.
After the flame is ignited, release the switch trigger
and adjust the temperature to your desired setting as
described later in this section.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to hold the switch trigger to
operate the heat gun.
To stop the heat gun:
Squeeze and hold the switch trigger for approximately
two seconds to extinguish the heat gun’s flame and turn
the temperature adjustment dial completely clockwise to
the
OFF
position.
NOTE:
After the flame is extinguished, the LED indicator
will blink and the fan will continue to operate until the
internal components of the heat gun have cooled down.
